EVENTS:

On Thursday March 27 and Friday March 28, the Fares Center at Fletcher is sponsoring a conference entitled The United States and the Middle East: What comes next after ? This conference aims to identify issues pertaining to the Middle East that will be of concern to Americans in the coming years. Questions and discussions will center on how other Middle Eastern states have been affected by the war in Iraq and by regional challenges; how the new leadership in Washington should understand and deal with political and military developments that are unfolding in the Middle East; and how the United States should best serve its own interests while helping parties in the Middle East manage ongoing conflicts. Register online here: http://farescenter.tufts.edu/events/register.aspx. For more info and the schedule: http://farescenter.tufts.edu/events/conferences/2008March27-28.asp.

On Saturday, March 29 is the Tufts Dems Freedom Trail walk. Get a taste of Boston’s history! Meet at the Campus Center at 1:15.

This Saturday, March 29, is the annual Tufts Energy Conference. Co-sponsored by ESI and YET, Tufts' 3rd annual Energy Conference focuses on the challenges facing the private energy sector in this time of transition. The conference will focus on the role of startup companies in commercializing clean energy solutions, and on the role that students and graduates can play in this growing field. Leaders in business, finance, and government will discuss how recent changes in the energy sphere have created a growing market for their products. There will also be a networking lunch featuring many companies from the energy sector.

Admission is free but please register: http://www.tuftsgloballeadership.org/programs/esi_conference.html

The deadline for The Forum is Wednesday April 2. This deadline is NOT FLEXIBLE. If you have questions about writing for The Forum, email Nate at Nathan.Grubman [at] tufts [dot] edu.

Friday, April 4 is the Tufts Dems Alumni Reception. It wil be at 7:30 in Sophia Gordon. Christine and Jenn have been working hard and we are expecting some great Tufts alumni. Food, music, and plenty of opportunities to network! Dress nicely.

The weekend of April 4 and 5 is the College Democrats of MA convention. Leave your calendar open because our own Communications Director, Mike Vastola, will be running for CDM prez. We can bring a maximum of 15 people to give him a solid voting block. It’s a great opportunity to meet Dems from other schools and learn how to improve our chapter and help others improve their chapter.

Tufts Dems elections for the 2008-09 school year (whoooa) will be on our April 15 meeting. Elected positions are President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications. Also keep in mind that many of the most prominent and important positions in Dems are appointed – Speakers, Membership, Editor in Chief of The Forum – so that there will still be many positions to come.

 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Tufts Dems blog is dominating Tufts Life. However, the same dudes have been blogging. Got something to say? Blog with us! Email Mike Vastola for more info.

Listen to Nick Burns on the Rundown on Friday! Tune in online at WMFO.org or on the dial at 91.5 from 2-4 in the afternoon.

See you this weekend!
