Putting the "Blue" in "Brown and Blue"

[Dems Update] Dems weekly update

Submitted by Tufts Dems E-List on Thu, 04/10/2008 - 10:17pm.

Hey Dems!

RECAP:

Senatorial candidate Ed O’Reilly dropped by. He told us about his history, from his days working in a factory, a firehouse, and a courtroom. Inspired by Howard Dean, he has been angered by Kerry’s waffling on the war and by Senate’s inability to get things done. He’ll be opening offices in Watertown soon and will be looking for interns. Visit Ed O’Reilly.com for more info.

Next week are elections! See below for more info.

CALENDAR:

  • Friday, April 11 our very own Nate Grubman will be on The Rundown to talk about the Patraeus hearings. Tune in at 91.5 or wmfo.org from 2-4 in the afternoon!
  • Tufts Dems elections for next year will be on the April 15 meeting. Elected positions are President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications. Also keep in mind that many of the most prominent and important positions in Dems are appointed – Speakers, Membership, Editor in Chief of The Forum – so that there will still be many positions to come.
  • This Sunday at Orleans, our very good friend State Rep Carl Sciortino is hosting a fundraiser. It’s from 3 to 5 in the afternoon. It won’t be 21+ so everyone can go. If you want to attend, contact Courtney: cahoustoncarter [at] gmail [dot] com
  • The Spring Gala will be on Thursday, April 24 from 5-7 pm. Our award recipients will be former Americops head Deb Jospin and Secretary of Elder Affairs Mike Festa. In the mean time, Maya needs your help! We’re looking for people to help with logistics. If you want to get involved, email Maya at Maya.Karwande [at] tufts [dot] edu.
  • Pangaea’s Human Rights Fair and Live Jumbo Aid event will take place on the Quad on Thursday, April 24 from 5-9. Live Jumbo aid has two components: a sleepout and a human rights fair. We are looking for people to help with our human right, civil liberties, and to speak out. Contact Doug, douglas.helman [at] tufts [dot] edu.

Enjoy the good weather!!

Shana
